WATER ENERGY LIFE <br />Lii <br />CITY OF <br />RIVERSIDE <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: DECEMBER 11, 2023 <br />GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM UPDATES THROUGH OCTOBER 2023 <br />Customer Engagement is funded by Assembly Bill (AB) 1890 that was adopted in 1996. The Bill <br />requires publicly owned utilities to collect and spend public benefits charge funds in four areas: <br />low-income assistance, energy efficiency and conservation programs, renewable energy, and <br />research, development, and demonstration projects. <br />The Customer Engagement Team provides and processes a robust and diverse range of <br />assistance and rebate programming. The team also conducts significant education and outreach <br />to support these programs, as well as energy efficiency and water conservation messaging for <br />customers and the wider community. <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT OCTOBER 2023 HIGHLIGHTS <br />Residential <br />A. Sharing Households Assist Riverside's Energy (SHARE) program assisted 1,747 <br />customers from July 2023 through October 2023 totaling $436,750. <br />B. Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESAP) assisted 88 customers from July 2023 <br />through October 2023 and expended $35,070.10. <br />C. Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program processed 6 applications, providing $7,500 in <br />customer benefits. <br />Commercial <br />A. Processed 6 large commercial rebates from July 2023 through October 2023 for a total of <br />$25,454.14 and 196,305.93 kWh saved. <br />B. Small Business Direct Install Program vendor Richard Heath & Associates completed 58 <br />direct installs. <br />Education <br />A. The education team had a full schedule of water and energy classes. <br />B. Attended the Science Technology Education Partnership (STEP) Conference 2023 for K- <br />12 students. <br />C. Participation in the Virtual STEP Conference 2023 for K-12 students is ongoing until <br />December. <br />D. Presented a workshop for California Association of Science Educators (CASE) <br />Conference. <br />E. Developing Family STEAM Night collaboration with Riverside Public Libraries for 2024. <br />
