CITY COUNCIL <br />MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2023, 1:00 P.M. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT IN PERSON/TELEPHONE <br />City fArts&.Innovation ART PICK COUNCIL CHAMBER <br />3900 MAIN STREET <br />PRESENT: Mayor Lock Dawson, Councilmembers Edwards, Cervantes, Fierro, Conder, <br />and Hemenway and Councilwoman Plascencia <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Perry <br />Mayor Lock Dawson called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. <br />Mayor Lock Dawson gave the Invocation and led the Pledge Allegiance. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Rich Gardner spoke regarding public safety and Alcoholics Anonymous. Monty Van Wart <br />spoke regarding Turf Removal Program. Kaylee Johnson spoke regarding Ward 2 <br />Councilmember Driving Under the Influence incident and public safety in Downtown <br />area with homelessness. Patrick Maloney spoke regarding his candidacy for Ward 1 City <br />Council seat. Dell Roberts, Nora Moti, and Nancy Jimenez Hernandez spoke in support of <br />Ward 2 Councilmember. Jackie Smith spoke regarding lack of response from Ward 3 <br />Councilmember. Melissa Rogole spoke regarding censuring Ward 2 Councilmember for <br />the incident. Errol Koschewitz spoke regarding partisanship and the Ward 2 <br />Councilmember incident. Aurora Chavez spoke regarding utility rate increases, Riverside <br />Transmission Reliability Project, special transportation, disabled veterans and spoke in <br />support of Ward 2 Councilmember. Pastor Salvador Gonzales spoke regarding Victory <br />Outreach services and spoke in support of Ward 2 Councilmember. Bethany Garcia <br />spoke regarding homelessness and Ward 2 Councilmember. Mike Sadeghian spoke <br />regarding homelessness. Pico Rivera Mayor Pro Tem Andrew Lara, Louis Matus, Mike <br />Negrete, Valerie Silva, Ruben Guitron, Amalia, Guramantra Khalsa, and Carlos Gonzalez <br />spoke in support of Ward 2 Councilmember. Caller from DeltaPlan Systems spoke <br />regarding water conservation. Two callers spoke regarding the Ward 2 Councilmember <br />incident. Two callers, Carla Fierro, and Jasmine Valencia spoke in support of Ward 2 <br />Councilmember.
