Please include me as a member of the Coalition. I intend to provide
copies of the latest newsletter on this project to all of our neighbors. More people need to be informed and updated.
Debra Bollman Farfan, Court -Approved Realtime Reporter
RDR, RMR, CRR, CRC, CCRR
(951) 565-1559
ORANGE COUNTY 1 RIVERSIDE 1 SAN BERNARDINO 1 LOS ANGELES 1 LAS VEGAS
CA CSR #11648 1 Nevada CCR #997
On Jan 18, 2023, at 9:58 PM, Deb Bollman Farfan <debrabollman@gmail.com> wrote:
City Clerk and committee members:
We live at 4350 RimCrest Drive, Norco, CA 92860. Our property backs directly to the Santa Ana River
bottom in the vicinity of the Proposed River Trails transmission line installation. We vehemently oppose
installing above -ground transmission lines of any kind along any portion of the trail in Norco.
We are impacted by high fire risk with the Santa Ana riverbed brush, but then you add in the inherent
dangers of massive power lines arcing during a Santa Ana winds event, it's not a matter of "if" a fire will
be caused, it's a matter of when. The only way to guarantee fire prevention would be cutting the power
to those lines every single time the winds blow, and that's just not practical.
What long-term costs will Riverside face by cutting corners now? The high winds we sustain in Norco
are a certainty year after year, and while there's no doubt these lines would be unsightly and reduce
property values, but, more importantly, we are already impacted in our ability to get homeowners
insurance. Adding above -ground power lines will make it impossible to get our homes insured.
Lastly, let us not forget the additional impact to our natural resources and wildlife: bores, coyotes,
raccoons, skunks, the red -tail hawks who nest along the River Trail, migrating ducks, geese and crows
that all use that Santa Ana River bottom as a home and refuge.
Riverside has been placed on notice of the dangers of this project time and time again and opens itself
and it's citizens up to potential litigation on a massive scale should fires arise in Norco.
I invite you to call us to discuss this impact statement further and perhaps even visit our property to see
exactly what you'll be destroying by cutting corners financially and not properly funding the burying of
the lines.
cc Mayor
Sincerely, City Council
Debra and Anthony Farfan City Manager
951-565-1559 City Attorney
Deb Bollman Farfan, Realtime Court Reporter ACMS
951-565-1559 PU General Manager
California CSR No. 11648 77 Nevada CCR No. 997 RDR, RMR, CRR, CRC, CCRR President - Caption
CART, Inc. iApologize for typos
1
