CITY COUNCIL <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2023, 10:00 A.M. <br />MAYOR'S CEREMONIAL ROOM <br />City of Arts &Innovation CITY HALL <br />3900 MAIN STREET <br />PRESENT: Councilmembers Edwards, Cervantes, Fierro, Perry, and Hemenway and <br />Councilwoman Plascencia <br />ABSENT: Mayor Lock Dawson and Councilmember Conder <br />Mayor Pro Tem Edwards called the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m. <br />INTERVIEWS <br />COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW COMMISSION WARD 2 SEAT <br />The City Council interviewed Justin I. Ramirez, Gary A. Ringrose, and Joe Vazquez for the <br />Ward 2 seat on the Community Police Review Commission for term ending March 1, 2025. <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Cervantes and seconded by <br />Councilmember Perry to appoint Joe Vazquez to the Ward 2 seat on the Community <br />Police Review Commission for term ending March 1, 2025. <br />Following further discussion, a substitute motion was made by Councilmember Cervantes <br />and seconded by Councilmember Fierro to continue the selection process for the Ward 2 <br />seat on the Community Police Review Commission for term ending March 1, 2025. The <br />motion carried with Councilmembers Edwards, Cervantes, Fierro, and Hemenway voting <br />aye, Councilmember Perry and Councilwoman Plascencia voting no, and Mayor Lock <br />Dawson and Councilmember Conder absent. <br />COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW COMMISSION WARD 3 SEAT <br />The City Council interviewed Jose R. Arballo for the Ward 3 seat on the Community Police <br />Review Commission for term ending March 1, 2024. <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Fierro and seconded by <br />Councilmember Cervantes to appoint Jose R. Arballo to the Ward 3 seat on the <br />Community Police Review Commission for term ending March 1, 2024. The motion carried <br />unanimously with Mayor Lock Dawson and Councilmember absent. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />
