Approve a Services Agreement from Request for Proposal 2199 for Stationary Batteries at
Riverside Energy Resource Center and Springs Power Plant with Ameresco Inc. of
Framingham, Massachusetts, from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024, in an amount not to
exceed $243,068.34; and
2. RERC consists of four gas turbine generators
capable of producing a total of 195 megawatts (MW) of electricity. Springs has four gas turbine
generators that produces 40 MW of electricity. Both facilities are vital to maintaining electric power
grid stability and meeting customer peak load demands.
Each power plant includes in its configuration an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The UPS
consists of numerous stationary batteries that serve as a dedicated backup power source for
specific critical plant equipment. These secondary power sources provide protection against
costly gas turbine failures and expedite each plant's ability to respond in the event of an
emergency blackout situation.
