Subject: FW: [EXTERNAL] Fireworks + fire and air quality
From: Esther Julier <ejulier@hotmail.com>
Sent: Sunday, July 9, 2023 12:57 PM
To: 2Mayor <2MAYOR@riversideca.gov>
Subject: [EXTERNAL] Fireworks + fire and air quality
Dear Mayor Lock Dawson,
I am writing to ask that you please reconsider having fireworks in the future— especially on Mt. Rubidoux. The
large area that burned this year was obviously totally avoidable were there no fireworks ...or at least if they
were elsewhere. The air quality the next day was in the purple zone. I understand that riverside fire had
advised against having the fireworks on the mountain but the city council and mayor chose to do it anyway. I
live in The neighborhood near by and am concerned not only about the air we all breathe but for my property. I
also care about the wildlife that live in the mountain. I'm sure some died unnecessarily. Please reconsider
having the fire works on the mountain next year. It would be best not to have them at all. Thanks, esther julier
cc Mayor
City Council
City Manager
City Attorney
ACMs
Fire Chief
1
