W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F E <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT <br />Board Memorandum <br />DATE: JULY 10, 2023 <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM UPDATES THROUGH MAY 2023 <br />Customer Engagement is funded by Assembly Bill (AB) 1890 that was adopted in 1996. The Bill <br />requires publicly owned utilities to collect and spend public benefits charge funds in four areas: <br />low-income assistance, energy efficiency and conservation programs, renewable energy, and <br />research, development, and demonstration projects. <br />The Customer Engagement Team provides and processes a robust and diverse range of <br />assistance and rebate programming; the team also conducts significant education and outreach <br />to support these programs, as well as energy efficiency and water conservation messaging for <br />customers and the wider community. <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT MAY 2023 HIGHLIGHTS <br />Residential <br />A. Sharing Households Assist Riverside's Energy (SHARE) program assisted 4,976 <br />customers from July 2022 through May 2023 totaling $2,101,327. <br />B. Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESAP) assisted 676 customers from July 2022 <br />through May 2023 and expended $427,290.88. <br />C. Emergency Recovery Assistance Program (ERAP) from July 2022 through May 2023, <br />approved 704 applications and $281,541.61 in assistance. <br />D. Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program processed from July 2022 through May 2023 a total <br />of 67 applications with $43,947.62 for customer benefits. <br />Commercial <br />A. Processed a total of 69 large commercial rebates from July 2022 through May 2023 for a <br />total of $179,282.71 and a kWh savings of 2,893,949.04. <br />B. Small Business Direct Install (SBDI) Program vendor Richard Heath & Associates (RHA) <br />scheduled 49 direct installs. <br />Education <br />A. Continued electricity classes. <br />B. Engineering Essay Contest winners were announced. <br />C. Education team has continued to plan for Science Technology Engineering Math in Public <br />Utilities Learning Labs 2023 and Middle School Summer Academies. <br />Communications <br />A. Promoted Emergency Recovery Assistance Program (ERAP) program until it ended on <br />5/31. <br />B. Continued promotion of Tree Power program on social media. <br />
