It was not sent by any City official
or staff. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
dear city council,
I offer thanks to the council and city staff for honoring the wishes of so many community members who came out to
redistrict the city of Riverside wards and forming to the current map.
Please finish the job as it is now time to do the outreach to the whole voting community on what has changed in
anticipation of the elections in 2024.
In outreach offerts, I ask that the city:
• Send mailers multiple times, including inside utility bills.
• Include the changes multiple times in as many city council newsletters or any other city newsletters.
• Posting on the city website and social media media accounts, including both flyer like images and 3 minute or
less videos with captioning.
• Create and deploy targeted social media ads for city of Riverside residents.
• Asking every single group under the umbrella of the neighborhood partnership to do its part in spreading the
word and providing neighborhood leaders with a simple toolkit.
• Creating simple signage with QR codes that lead to more information (that is also not overwhelming) and placing
them throughout city events and ESPECIALLY at the Festival of Lights.
• Make it easier to find how I know what ward someone is now in; The city website is a little hard to navigate to
the address function. In fact, alert people about their ward possibly changing.
• Create 1 or 2 slogans in English and in Spanish about preparing for the election, changes in the upcoming
elections, whatever your comms thinks will work (especially since both election years are changing as well as
wards.)
• Please send outreach in English, Spanish and any other languages that have a significant presence in the city
• and adopting any other impactful or innovative ideas for outreach from my fellow residents.
The city already has the task of telling all voters that election years have changed. Please make sure to create a
packaged strategy as quickly as possible this summer to deploy ASAP & revisit the strategy in November for a heavy
January push.
thank you,
Elizabeth Ayala
Ward 1 resident
cc Mayor
City Council
City Manager
City Attorney
ACMs
City Clerk
