As I think of the many years I have lived in
Riverside, interacting with the organizations and people that make up the Eastside have
been invaluable. Empowering our residents to get involved and to work for positive change
takes time.
I often think of the huge change that happened when the 91 Fwy divided that
community. Today, you have a choice, one that will keep this community intact, one that
builds on the shared history and coming together of residents to work together and
continue to build their capacity to improve the quality of life for Eastside residents. This
unique part of our community has worked hard to connect with others and now, if moved
to another ward, will have to start all over again.
I encourage you to pause, reconsider and protect the very thing we treasure in Riverside,
our history. An involved citizenry will ensure a positive future for all of Riverside.
Sincerely,
Ofelia Valdez -Yeager
cc Mayor
City Council
City Manager and ACMS
City Attorney
City Clerk
