If you suspect this is a phishing or malicious email, please contact the helpdesk.
Dear Councilmembers,
This email is regarding Iteml5 on today's City Council agenda, the redistricting process. Ward boundaries are only
reviewed every 10 years and if changes need to be made the lines are adjusted accordingly. As stated by the
demographers when they first began mapping out the data of population within the City of Riverside, residents per ward
was very well balanced. In fact, according to the Fair Maps Act the minority wards can fall within a percentage range and
still be considered equally balanced. as was the case with the City of Riverside.
Therefore, I will ask why a map with the least amount of change to the boundary lines was not considered for review?
Riverside's wards are considered equally balanced, there is no need to "re -shape Riverside". Also, the community
involvement done on this was somewhat disappointing. I went to a few of the workshops, and the turnout was horrible
(maybe 10 people). I feel if the city were to take more time getting the residents involved in the process there would be
very different results. More residents need to know about it. To consider this process anything remotely close to being
"FAIR" is laughable. Re -districting is not needed or wanted for Riverside.
Thank you for your time.
I would like my comments to be entered as part of the official record. Thank you.
Anna Moore
cc Mayor
City Council
City Manager
City Attorney
ACMs
City Clerk
