ft Public Comment for March 14, 2023 City Council Meeting Prepared by the City Clerk's Office at 1:17 p.m. on March 14, 2023 Agenda Item Name Neighborhood Position Comments Dear Honorable Councilmembers: respectfully request your support and VOTE for Draft Map A4 Modified and adopt it as a new map for the City of Riverside. I support the Brown and Black Redistricting Alliance submission of Draft Map A 4 Modified. The alliance has worked extensively in Riverside to work with the community to develop this Draft Map A4 Modification. The Alliance consists of over 21 signatories — organizations and community leaders active in this redistricting cycle. The alliance is arguably the most effective group in this Riverside City redistricting process. This map maximizes the Voting Rights Act and better aligns with Riverside resident's communities of interest testimony. Map A4 Modified has four Latino Citizen Voting Age 12. Conduct a public hearing on ReShape Riverside Redistricting Population majority wards. Compared to other draft maps, A4 Modified has the most Latino process (City Clerk) (All Wards) (15 -minute presentation) CVAP concentrated Riverside neighborhoods like Arlanza, Casablanca, Eastside, Frances Arlington South Downtown, Northside in High Latino CVAP wards. My family and I have lived in our Arlington residence for over 50 years — where I developed a neighborhood watch group. We staunchly support Map A4 modification because it best represents our communities of interests. In order for the City of Riverside to act in good faith, be inclusive and equitable, we request all redistricting workshops and public hearings to continue to be held after 6:00 p.m. Please vote to support Map A4 Modification.
