Arias here- w4 - Casa Blanca , 4th generation Tax paying <br />Riverside -r, this first hearing starting at 330 pm- already continues the current gap of the majority of Riversiders <br />affected. Knowing the demographics of Riverside - most folks commute at least 30 mins PLUS one way to their <br />jobs. <br />Although you have the planned target dates and want to do a virtual hearing- please take into consideration that <br />folks work. <br />My Community of Interest is my neighborhood of Casa Blanca. <br />Community Boundaries: From the 91 Freeway — Indiana Ave/ Washington Mary Street/ Victoria ave/ Jefferson <br />Where the 3 Palm trees stand on Railroad Ave where the Original Train Depot was built bringing in the main lines <br />of Citrus to be processed in the Packing houses here called Victoria Packing house and then on Lincoln -the <br />Citrus Packing House. <br />Community Story: <br />Our 144 year old community has several community groups that have advocated for the people in the <br />neighborhood for decades. As we are always underserved and under -represented our community needed to <br />create groups to advocate on our behalf such as The Home of Neighborly Service, The Community Action Group <br />and Villegas Park Advisory Council. <br />We are unique in we have celebrated our 113th Annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta. A community free event which <br />everyone looks forward to. Music is performed, different groups of dancers perform, booths of food is set up for <br />sale, and even game booths. <br />This Fiesta has received awards and the Volunteer committee members do a great job organizing a nice event. <br />Also St Anthony's Church has their annual fair, where a large portion of the community is involved too. <br />The Church of God of Prophecy has been in the community for half of a Century and does quarterly events to <br />serve the community such as Backpack giveaways filled with school supplies. A Turkey and fixings distribution for <br />the holidays. <br />Our Community was established with families here to work in the different facets of the Citrus Industry. From <br />Citrus pickers, packers, drivers, managers of workers. Today our Community is comprised of a Large Senior <br />population with Retired Elderly folks on fixed incomes. We have a population of about 7,349 residents. In a 1.060 <br />square mile area. We are predominately LatinX at 82% then White at almost 10% , Asian at 3% and African <br />American at 2.3%The Primary Language spoken is English, Spanish and Dialects of Guatemalan like Q'anjob'al <br />Most of the working residents commute at least an Hour one way. The Dominant profession in our neighborhood <br />is in the Service Industry which is comprised of 51%- 4% are in the Management field. <br />Over 19% of our Population us under the Poverty Level. <br />
