W A T E R E N F R G 1' I_ i E l <br />11A RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />.AN <br />P U B LIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 13, 2023 <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM UPDATES THROUGH DECEMBER 2022 <br />Customer Engagement is funded by Assembly Bill (AB) 1890 that was adopted in 1996. The Bill <br />requires publicly owned utilities to collect and spend public benefits charge funds in four areas: <br />low-income assistance, energy efficiency and conservation programs, renewable energy, and <br />research, development, and demonstration projects. <br />The Customer Engagement Team provides and processes a robust and diverse range of <br />assistance and rebate programming; the team also conducts significant education and outreach <br />to support these programs, as well as energy efficiency and water conservation messaging for <br />customers and the wider community. <br />CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT DECEMBER 2022 HIGHLIGHTS <br />Residential <br />A. Sharing Households Assist Riverside's Energy (SHARE) program assisted 3,902 customers <br />from July through December 2022 totaling $1,184,124. <br />B. Energy Savings Assistance Program (ESAP) assisted 557 customers from July through <br />December 2022 and expended $295,164.83. <br />C. Emergency Recovery Assistance Program (ERAP) from July 2022 through December 2022, <br />approved 392 applications and $156,742 in assistance. <br />D. Electric Vehicle (EV) Rebate Program processed from July 2022 through December 2022 <br />a total of 34 applications with $17,856.62 for customer benefits. <br />(-nmmPrrial <br />A. Processed a total of 35 large commercial rebates from July 2022 through December 2022 <br />for a total of $138,194.34 and a kWh savings of 2,359,702.64. <br />Education <br />A. High School Designing Solutions essay contest closed on December 30, 2022, and 31 <br />essays were received. <br />B. Continued Water Cycle classes. <br />C. Collaborated with other water agencies to judge Krieger Grant Scholarship submissions. <br />D. Participated at the STEP Foundation Breakfast. <br />Communications <br />A. Reviewed the new diversity, equity, and inclusion calendar ahead of release to City <br />employees <br />
