W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F E pr� RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: FEBRUARY 13, 2023 SUBJECT: CALENDAR YEAR 2023 HOLIDAY MEETING SCHEDULE ISSUE: Consider a recommendation to cancel the regularly scheduled Board of Public Utilities meetings for March 27, October 9, and December 25, 2023. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public Utilities approve the cancellation of the regularly scheduled Board of Public Utilities meetings for March 27, October 9, and December 25, 2023, due to holidays. BACKGROUND: It has been a past practice to cancel regularly scheduled Board of Public Utilities meetings when there is a conflict with City observed holidays. DISCUSSION: This year, the regularly scheduled Board meeting of March 27, 2023, falls on Cesar Chavez Day (City Observed), October 9, 2023, falls on Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day, and December 25, 2023, falls on Christmas Day. The Board is asked to consider cancelling all three meetings since there are no anticipated items of critical importance projected to need action on those dates at this time. If a matter of critical importance arises during any of these times, a Special Meeting of the Board can and will be called. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: This action supports Strategic Priority 5 — High Performing Government and Goal 5.3 — Enhance communication and collaboration with community members to improve transparency, build public trust and encourage shared decision-making. 1. Community Trust — The holiday meeting schedule serves public interest by providing meeting adjustments to accommodate for holidays. 2. Equity— The holiday meeting schedule supports RPU's ability to provide equitable access to scheduled meeting days.
