CITY COUNCIL <br />MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2023, 3 P.M. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT IN PERSON/TELEPHONE <br />City afkts&Innovation ART PICK COUNCIL CHAMBER <br />3900 MAIN STREET <br />PRESENT: Mayor Lock Dawson and Councilmembers Edwards, Cervantes, Fierro, <br />Conder, Perry, and Hemenway and Councilwoman Plascencia <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mayor Lock Dawson called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. <br />The Reverend Canon Kelli Grace Kurtz of All Saints Episcopal Church gave the Invocation. <br />Councilmember Edwards led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Errol Koschowitz spoke regarding the President of the United States and U.S. Treasury <br />grants. John Fisher spoke regarding a training video on use of an automated external <br />defibrillator (AED) . <br />MAYOR/COUNCILMEMBER COMMUNICATIONS <br />Councilmember Edwards reported on the Downtown Parking meeting, community <br />engagement, the Lunar Festival, and Ward 1 January office hours. Councilmember <br />Cervantes reported on the Ward 2 Neighborhood meeting at Cesar Chavez Center, UCR <br />Community Project Review Community Meeting at the UCR Alumni and Visitor Center, <br />Latino Network mixer and Board installation at Zacatecas, residents of Eastside Active <br />and Leadership virtual meeting, the Lunar New Year Festival, the closing of Cellar Door <br />Bookstore in Canyon Crest Town Center and possible relocation. Councilmember <br />Conder reported on the swearing in ceremony for Assemblymember Bill Essayli, the War <br />Memorial Dog Park grand opening, and congratulated Bullseye Sports Shop business <br />owners Vince and Lilah Torres on retirement. Councilwoman Plascencia reported on <br />Ward 5 February office hours and announced City Manager Mike Futrell would be the <br />guest speaker. Councilmember Perry reported on the War Memorial Dog Park grand <br />opening, the Chamber of Commerce hosting a Job Fair at the Tyler Mall, and the passing <br />of Dr. Lalit Acharya. Councilmember Hemenway reported on the swearing in of the new <br />Riverside County Office of Education Superintendent of Schools and the Point in Time <br />Count. Mayor Lock Dawson thanked Mayor Pro Tem Cervantes for chairing the City <br />Council meeting last week and reported on the US Conference of Mayors in Washington <br />D.C., State of the City, announced the Latino Network meeting was rescheduled and the <br />O]= <br />
