From: S. Nikole Gordon <sncg1979@gmail.com>
Sent: Thursday, January 5, 2023 10:34 PM
To: CityClerkMbx <City Clerk@riversideca.gov>; comments@riversidetransit.com; Campbell, Sandra
<SCampbell@riversideca.gov>
Subject: [External] Lighting at Bus Stop and Low Park
I am writing to you in hopes of you using your influence to assist our community at 6979 Palm Ct. on
Arlington/Magnolia Ave.
A couple of years ago the community worked together with Mike Soubirous and Larry Rubio with RTA to assist us,
Magnolia Palms Association, with installing a bus stop transit shelter. This community is so thankful for the
success of the installment.
After some research we have found that both Mr. Soubirous and Mr. Rubio are no longer available.
That is why we are reaching out to you for support with lighting for the bus stop transit shelter. After personal
inspection it looks as though the lights are no longer working within the overhead of the shelter. We do hope this is
something that you can assist us with. With the days becoming darker earlier, the shelter has become an unsafe
area in the evening and night. We would like all parties who use the bus shelter - or - who walk by the shelter feel at
ease and safe.
We would like to further request additional lighting at Low Park. This park is at the cross streets of Arlington and
Magnolia Ave. Just in front of our community. We have many homeless and disturbed people who like to utilize this
dark area for their own personal use. With this activity, it causes a heightened threat to our community. Our
community has had multiple car break-ins, vandalism to our building and our vehicles.
We are urging the City Council of Riverside, RTA and our Parks to please assist our community in these two matters
to support our community safety and well-being.
We kindly ask you to do everything in your power to see these issues are addressed.
Thanking you in advance,
Mrs. Nikole Gordon, Owner
1
cc Mayor
City Council
City Manager
City Attorney
ACMs
PRCS Director
OHS Director
