People Serving <br />People <br /> <br /> Riverside <br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: March 23, 2004 <br /> <br /> ITEM NO: 12 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: BID NO. 6087 - TYLER STREET WIDENING BETWEEN WELLS AVENUE AND MANDALAY <br /> <br />COURT~ SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION~ FUND TRANSFER AND CONTRACT AWARD <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />This project will provide for the construction of street improvements on Tyler Street between Wells Avenue <br />and Mandalay Court. The project includes: <br /> <br />1. Widening Tyler Street to provide one lane and a parking lane in each direction and a continuous two-way <br /> left turn lane. <br /> <br />2. Constructing concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks. <br /> <br />3. Constructing a storm drain in Wells Avenue from Tyler Street to Jones Avenue. <br /> <br />4. Constructing missing sewer laterals. <br /> <br />5. Constructing landscaped medians and new traffic signals a t t he intersections o f Tyler Street with <br /> Gramercy Place, Campbell Avenue, and Keller Avenue. <br /> <br />6. Rehabilitating and/or reconstructing the existing asphalt pavement within the project limits. <br /> <br />7. The undergrounding of the existing overhead power, telephone and cable television lines. <br /> <br />Construction of the overall project is expected to take approximately 19 months. Construction of the street <br />improvements and utility undergrounding will be sequenced to minimize impacts to adjoining residents and <br />businesses. Utility undergrounding along Tyler Street will be phased and will occur in the following sequence: <br />Eureka Street to Cypress Avenue, Cypress Avenue to Campbell Avenue, and Campbell Avenue to Wells <br />Avenue. Each phase of the undergrounding will be completed prior to beginning work on the next phase. <br />Construction of the street improvements will commence following the completion of each phase of utility <br />undergrounding. <br /> <br />Five bids were received for this project on January 28, 2004 (see attached list). The Iow bid of $6,389,938.85 <br />was submitted by Shawnan and is 0.7% over the Engineer's estimate. <br /> <br />12-1 <br /> <br /> <br />
