COMMISSION ON AGING MINUTES bV_ MONDAY, AUGUST 15, 2022, 4 P.M. iiiffl VIRTUAL MEETING City fArts&Innovation TELEPHONE PUBLIC COMMENT PRESENT: Chair Keller, Vice Chair Kelley and Commissioners Moti, Dubois, Welch, and Straight ABSENT: Commissioner Jimenez STAFF PRESENT: Carmen Soto Chair Keller convened the meeting at 4:02 p.m. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE There was no one wishing to address the Commission COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATIONS Commissioner Moti spoke on lack of quorum for past scheduled Commission meetings, reported on meeting with Mayor Lock Dawson who announced the Mental Health Initiatives presented by Senator Roth, spoke on the homeless population, reported on affordable housing development on Martin Luther King Boulevard, provided elderly abuse statistics in Riverside County, requested a presentation from the UCR School of Medicine program on house calls to the elderly community, requested a presentation from the California Department of Aging on programs and services offered, and asked for consideration on cutting down the amount of members on the Commission. Commissioner DuBois announced she will be attending the Homeless Task Force in October. Commissioner Straight reported on meeting with the new Director of the Janet Goeske Center, Danielle Nelson, and announced their open house taking place September 15, 2022, and a Health Fair taking place on the October 12, 2022. Vice Chair Kelley reported on a meeting with Habitat for Humanity and gave brief update on services offered. Chair Keller provided an update on a workshop presented by the Department of Developmental Service and Department on Aging. CONSENT CALENDAR MINUTES It was moved by Vice -Chair Kelley and Seconded by Commissioner Moti to approve the minutes of March 21, 2022, with the following corrections (1) add postpone to item 2, COVID-19 Update by Mark Annas; and (2) replace "Chair Keller" with "Co -Chair Keller"
