Many of us are all in favor of additional single family homes in our community. We need them.
Yet, if you guys are at all 'concerned' about affordable housing, reducing homelessness, etc. tell me how 3,000+
square foot homes will address or partially solve the lack of AFFORDABLE HOUSING in Riverside? Won't those homes
require 1/2 acre, 1 acre or 1.5 acres? Do you really expect your current constituents to afford these new homes?
Or are they awards or medals to your legacies? Are you not stating who the 'real residents' of Riverside are?
Wouldn't it make sense to have 1,500-1,800 sq ft condos or townhomes in a similarly master -planned community?
Why aren't you committed to the local residents here now, as well as attracting diverse, new city residents?
Additionally, it's been reported that area utilities will soon have trouble providing electricity and water. So,
if we're going to build, why not pursue sustainability? Common walls, the insulative effect of a townhome or
condo development?
It just boggles the mind how you guys want such untoward and undesirable change in the community. Do we not have
enough Overlook Drive -type residences? Does the City get more fees for larger homes? Even so, isn't it better to
do what is right? To demonstrate actions that are consistent with your concerns and mayoral LISTENING TOURS?
How many people actually demanded 3,500 sq ft homes at these events? How about higher sales taxes from
more residents? You will have to improve the roads either way. And, you'll have to contend with the County in this
area.
Additionally, public safety services, especially ems and fire are quilt -like in the area. Based on a recent experience on
Wood street, Cal Fire/Riverside County was called, though a Riverside City engine came, and cal -fire CANCELLED THE
AMBULANCE REQUEST. Hence, a Riverside City engine sat for 30 minutes, waiting for an AMR ambulance to come.
At the least, improve the collaboration and quality of public services for the residents who are already here; if we still
matter.
And, do you really think that folks buying 3,500 sq ft homes will want to be within half a mile of 3-4 distribution centers?
Don't the affluent - the only people who matter in this city - desire clean air and quiet? Hard to do with 100 mack semi
trucks.
1
