This material is responsible for 70% of RPU's system failures. The Electric
System Master Plan (ESMP) recommends the planned replacement of obsolete HMPE and CIC
type infrastructure to improve system capacity and reliability.
This project will replace existing deteriorated electrical facilities and cable with new underground
electrical distribution facilities, and associated components to improve the electric service to
customers in the Ramona neighborhood area, improving overall electric system reliability and
safety. There is no need to replace any of the existing underground conduits and associated civil
underground facilities at this time. Replacement of deteriorated electrical distribution facilities and
cables was identified as part of the Utility 2.0 Electric Infrastructure Road Map.
DISCUSSION:
The scope of work includes the installation of approximately 5,130 feet of underground primary
cable, two (2) underground transformers and related electrical distribution facilities. This project
also includes the removal of approximately 5,000 feet of aged electric cable and related
distribution facilities.
The project will upgrade electrical distribution facilities south of California Avenue, north of Lincoln
Avenue, west of Jefferson Street and east of Jackson Street.
