IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$2,031,870 AND APPROVAL OF WORK ORDER 2208782 IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$2,349,719 <br />ISSUES: <br />Approval ofa Communications System and Services Agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc., for <br />an upgrade of the Land Mobile Radio infrastructure in the amount of $2,031,870 and approval of <br />Work Order 2208782 in the amount of $2,349,719. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br /> <br />1. Approve a Communications System and Services Agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc., <br />for the Land Mobile Radio Infrastructure Upgrade Project in the amount of $2,031,870; <br /> <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute the Agreement and any documents <br />necessary to administer the Agreement, including making minor and non-substantive <br />changes; and <br /> <br />3. Approve Work Order No. 2208782 in the amount of $2,349,719, for costs associated with <br />the Land Mobile Radio Infrastructure Upgrade Project, including the equipment, <br />installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) operates a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system to facilitate reliable <br />and secure voice communications between field crews and the Utilities Dispatch Center. This <br />system supports day-to-day and emergency communications for the Electric and Water Divisions <br />and provides interoperability with Police Department and Fire Department personnel. The LMR <br />system provides service to approximately 300 users, with excellent coverage in the City of <br />Riverside, as well as portions of Moreno Valley and San Bernardino. <br /> <br />In 2016, RPU migrated from a legacy low-band VHF analog conventional radio system to the <br />current encrypted 700MHz Motorola P25 digital trunked system.
