<br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: MARCH 14, 2022 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: POLE REPLACEMENT FOR PUBLIC WORKS LA SIERRA NEIGHBORHOOD <br />SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT – WORK ORDER NO. 2104277FOR <br />A TOTAL CAPITAL EXPENDITURE OF $125,000 <br />ISSUE: <br />Approval ofWork Order No. 2104277 for a total capital expenditure of $125,000for the pole <br />replacement for Public Works La Sierra Neighborhood Sidewalk Improvements Project. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve Work Order No. 2104277 for a total capital expenditure <br />of $125,000 for the pole replacement for Public Works La Sierra Neighborhood Sidewalk <br />Improvements Project. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 13, 2021, the Board of Public Utilitiesapproved Work Order No. 1926828 in the <br />amount of $347,000, to install the street light component for the La Sierra Neighborhood <br />Improvement Project,under Public Works Bid 7852. This Project promotes active transportation <br />such as walking, biking, and any alternate way of commute besides automobile through the <br />installation of new sidewalks to provide safe walkways for pedestrians and students in the La <br />Sierra Neighborhood. <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Public Works Department has requested Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) to relocate an <br />additional five overhead poles along Doverwood Drive, between Sierra Vista Avenue and La <br />Sierra Avenue. Additional work is under Work Order No. 2104277. <br /> <br />This project will replace existing overhead structures and wires with new overhead electrical <br />distribution facilities, improvingthe electric service to customers in the areaandoverall electric <br />system reliability. Replacement of aged overhead equipment aligns with Envision Riverside 2025 <br />Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />The scope of work includes the relocationof fiveoverhead poles from their current location to <br />meet the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) clearance requirements. RPU Electric <br />Field Forceswill relocate the poles and transfer all associated electrical facilities along Doverwood <br /> <br />
