So, while this may seem
firm
it does involve where my family lives. Obviously that's not a consideration of any of yours. 1,000's of us LIVE here; many
are
seniors or have kids. With all due respect, the purpose of a city council is to balance the needs of citizens and business.
To maintain
some degree of clean air, ensure adequate though not extreme density, and not put folks at risk of severe harm or
residential areas at risk of
disproportionate 'flight.'
Given the logistics center that recently opened on Alessandro, possibly in the County, many who live here are extremely
concerned
that the current building and it's traffic will have an undue and highly detrimental impact on Riverside City streets. Given
this is an official comment,
I am including documentation of the average, if not sub -par status of County roads.
https://rctlma.org/Portals/7/documents/PMR 2019 final.pdf?ver=2020-05-19-092059-533
In 2019, which probably includes data from 2018 and before, 34% of county roads were distressed. Given the possibility
of less than
usual work being done in 2020 and lower revenue in 2021, its likely that 40% of county roads are distressed. So, why
would this project
be up for a vote, with little fanfare, by fiscally conservative, 3rd, 4th and 5th generation Riversiders? How is this
consistent with public officials
who have any connection to this City or part of town?
Obviously, the additional trucks, pollution, etc. that this proposed project will attract isn't a concern to our leaders,
including our council person and Mayor.
Will you wait for 2 bicyclists to be killed by a semi or 3? Do you think there will continue to be a classic car coffee meet
and greet each week, if there's such dust
and exhaust fumes here? Some folks don't like having their classic cars around dust, rain, sleet, etc. Could groups like
that be the difference between Farmer
Boys closing or staying open? Don't those folks matter at all?
Will you wait until there's massive flight from the ward or census tract (decreasing revenue and area desirability: leading to
a ghost -town?!) or will you do
what is right without the need for lawsuits or other citizen -backed delays (i.e. contesting environmental impact, traffic
impact, and other studies, and contesting every
phase of this project) costing this City hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Given the recent history of this City and State, maybe a massive re -call effort is necessary at least
for Mr. Conder, Mr. Perry, Mr. Hermenway, etc, if not the Mayor. Acting against the City's residents' interests, fiscal
interests, etc. is more than enough
1
