<br /> RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br /> <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: DECEMBER 13, 2021 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: FIRST AMENDMENT TO PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANT SERVICES <br />AGREEMENT WITH HDR, INC. TO EXTEND THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT <br />BY TEN MONTHS, UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2022, WITH NO ADDITIONAL <br />COMPENSATION <br />ISSUE: <br />Consider approving the First Amendment to the Professional Consultant Services Agreement with <br />HDR, inc. to extend the term of the Agreement by ten months, until September 30, 2022, with no <br />additional compensation. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1. Approve a First Amendment to the Professional Consultant Services Agreement with HDR, <br />inc. to extend the term of the Agreement by ten (10) months, until September 30, 2022, <br />with no additional compensation; and <br /> <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute this first amendment to the <br />Professional Services Agreement with HDR, Inc., including making minor and non- <br />substantive changes and to sign all documents and instruments necessary to complete the <br />transactions. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On November 9, 2020, the Board of Public Utilities (Board) approved a Professional Services <br />Agreement with HDR, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $234,600 for the Long-Term Approach for <br />Perfluorinated Compounds (PFAS) Treatment in response to Request for Proposal No. 2029. The <br />terms of that Agreement are effective until November 30, 2021. Subsequently, on January 11, <br />2021, the Board also approved a Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) testing project. This testing <br />project would allow RPU water staff to better understand how effective the different types of media <br />are in treating PFAS compounds. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The consultant is in the final phases of completing the final report, and one of the key contents <br />within the final report is to include a recommendation for long-term cost-effective alternatives for <br /> <br />
