The rationales on
voting no
should be re‐named the 'Fall of the City of Riverside.' That may seem unfair, though it doesn't appear that you've
considered for a second the vast
impact of what you're advocating for.
When serving the public, life isn't not about forced austerity, proving tired theories, and worn‐out talking points. Life in
public service is about planning,
prudence, and a comprehensive (35,000 foot) view. Obviously, our City council has suffered from a lack these things for
quite some time.
Given our City's current plight, can you really say our City has benefited from the historically conservative leanings of
prior City Councils? At least in hindsight,
were these councils anything close to fiscally careful or conservative?
The fact of the matter is we're paying the penalty for spendthrift city councilors and I haven't seen any change by you
two.
Hint: if a product is available in southern california, there's greater economic benefit to buy it here than to buy it from
an Atlanta or Cincinnati firm.
Please know I didn't choose Atlanta or Cincinnati out of thin air. The City bought products and services from companies
in these cities. Who does that employ here?
How does that lead to sustainability here? Remember folks, SHOP LOCAL unless you're on the city council.

I'm from Evanston, Illinois. That city has had a local preference in bidding policy for at least 25 years.
https://www.cityofevanston.org/home/showpublisheddocument/65632/637643204431900000
26. LOCAL PREFERENCE POLICY The Evanston City Council reserves the right to award the contract to an Evanston firm if
five (5%) withinis bid firm’s the
percent of the low bid of a non‐Evanston firm.

Why is it that despite your concern, adeptness, and adherence to a quasi fiduciary role, even Moreno Valley will beat
Riverside to the punch when it comes to
