LEAGUE OF RECEIVED <br />CALIFORNIA <br />CITIES SEP 09 2021 <br />City of Riverside <br />City Clerk's Office <br />2020-2021 TO: Mayors, City Managers, and City Clerks <br />CAL CITIES OFFICERS <br />President RE: Cal Cities 2021 Annual Conference <br />Cheryl Viegas Walker Notice of Proposed Bylaws Amendments to be Considered at General Assembly <br />Mayor, <br />Ff Centro During a special board meeting on August 17, the League of California Cities Board of <br />Directors approved proposed bylaws amendments to enhance Cal Cities' governance and <br />First Vice President effectuate technical changes. The proposed bylaws amendments will go before the <br />Cindy Silva General Assembly for a vote at the Annual Business meeting on September 24 during <br />Council Member, <br />Walnut creek the Annual Conference and Expo in Sacramento. At least two-thirds of the General <br />Assembly must vote in favor of the proposed bylaws amendments in order for them to <br />Second Vice President take effect. <br />Ali Taj <br />Council Member, Proposed Bylaws: The enclosed Proposed Bylaws Amendments packet includes <br />Artesia background information, a resolution for adopting the bylaws amendments, a summary <br />Immediate Past President of the proposed changes to the bylaws, and a full redlined version of the proposed <br />John F. Dunbar changes to the bylaws. Specifically, the proposed bylaws amendments would accomplish <br />Mayor, the following: <br />Yountvilie <br />1. Recognize the Cal Cities diversity caucuses in the Cal Cities bylaws to reflect the <br />Executive Director full contribution the caucuses make to Cal Cities' mission and vision. <br />and CEO 2. Adjust the composition of the Board to achieve a higher impact and be more <br />Carolyn M. Coleman representative by adding Director seats to the Board for each of the five <br />Diversity Caucuses, and transitioning members of the National League of Cities <br />Board from Cal Cities Directors to one non-voting advisor to the Cal Cities Board. <br />3. Update the League of California Cities' moniker to "Cal Cities" to promote <br />consistency. <br />4. Make various minor technical corrections. <br />Voting Delegates: in order to vote during the General Assembly, your city council must <br />designate a voting delegate. If your city has already made its appointment for the 2021 <br />Annual Conference and provided your city's voting delegate information to Cal Cities, <br />your delegate may pick up his/her credentials upon arriving at the conference. If your <br />city has not made its appointment, please complete the Voting Delegate form located on <br />the Cal Cities website www.calcities.org/resolutions under the "voting delegates" <br />section, and email it to Darla Yacub at dyacub@calcities.org by Wednesday, <br />September 15. <br />Cities are encouraged to consider the proposed bylaws amendments prior to their <br />delegate's vote at the Closing Luncheon and General Assembly, which will be held on <br />Friday, September 24, at 12:30 p.m. Should you have questions regarding the enclosed <br />bylaws amendment materials or General Assembly, please contact Norman Coppinger at <br />ncoppinger@calcities.org or by phone at 916/658-8277. <br />
