The ward boundaries shall be adjusted <br />as necessary to provide substantially equal numbers of residents in each ward in addition to <br />setting forth the proposed steps, timing, criteria, and public outreach for the City's 2022 <br />redistricting process. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the City Council: <br />1. Receive Riverside County Executive Office presentation on County's Redistricting Briefing. <br />2. Review the Redistricting Steps, Criteria, and Timeline for the City's 2022 Redistricting Plan. <br />3. Determine if the City Council will oversee the redistricting process; defer the process to a <br />Standing Committee such as the Inclusiveness, Community Engagement, and <br />Governmental Processes Committee (ICGC); or establish a redistricting commission, <br />selecting from one of the three types of redistricting commissions set forth in Elections <br />Code sections 23002 and 23003. <br />4. Approve the proposed redistricting timeline for the City's Redistricting process. <br />5. Provide further direction as the City Council deems appropriate for the establishment of <br />the City's Redistricting Plan. <br />LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: <br />On November 27, 2012, the City of Riverside adopted an ordinance amending Riverside Municipal <br />Code Chapter 1.12, in its entirety, to adjust the City Council ward boundaries, following the 2010 <br />decennial census data.
