I will be calling in on Tuesday January 5th, 2021 at 6:15 to have
my voice heard.
Dear Council Members,
I have been told that because of the city charter, the power to close down a business is solely in your hands. I want to
bring to your attention, a gym named Fitness Mania located at 8719 Trautwein Road, Riverside CA. 92508. This gym
which is in Chuck Condor's district is a super spreader in our community. They aren't just non compliant, the owner is a
profiteer, making money off the pandemic and not trying to mitigate the spread in any way. I encourage you all to drive
by this business and see for yourselves. His business has never had so many members, because he is getting members
from other gyms that have closed do to the decree of the Governor and the respect for human life. Almost everyone
walking in and out of the business is not wearing a mask. The employees and members are not wearing masks inside
the gym. You can see for yourself, though their windows. They have a huge window in back of the gym where you can
see the members working out, when you drive by or walk on the sidewalk. It's as if they were trying to spread Covid-19
on purpose. I have seen employees through the windows, and they are not wearing masks either.
The owner of this business has taken advantage of your unwillingness to protect the people of Riverside. He is on social
media bragging about not shutting down. He encouraged his members and friends to rally downtown for the protest to
stop closures in Riverside. People are dying every day in our community because of Covid-19, our hospitals are full, and
will soon have to make decisions on who to treat and who to let die with out treatment. This gym is spreading Covid-19,
and is more dangerous to our community than one hundred other non compliant businesses.
I understand that you already voted on whether or not you would give the power to the city to turn of electrical and
water to businesses that were non compliant, and you voted against it six to one. You need to do whatever you have
to, to protect Riverside from this super spreader. In the time of a pandemic when we are with out laws, because there
hasn't been a pandemic in over a hundred years, we need your help know to protect us, the people of Riverside. Every
day you wait, more people will die. After this pandemic is over, we will look back at the mistakes made, and we will vote
out those accountable. Don't give us a reason to vote you out at your reelection. If you do not hold a new vote, or a
vote at least on this one business which is so dangerous to our community I will make sure at your reelection that
everyone is aware of what you did, by not protecting the people of Riverside during its time of need, during the
pandemic. I hope by the time I call in on January 5th, you have been able to drive up to this business and sit outside and
see what is going on for yourself. I hope that by the next council meeting on January 5th, you will be taking another
vote to shut down this gym, and protect the people of Riverside. You will never again have an opportunity to save so
many lives in your career with a single vote. If you shut this business down, you will be able to look back on your career
with pride when you retire and know you did the right thing, by saving lives and protecting the citizens of riverside from
a profiteer during the time of a pandemic, when the people of Riverside were so vulnerable and needed your protection
the most.
I have lived in Riverside as a student while I attended UCR, and for another 26 years in the home I purchased in
Orangecrest. I love my community. I was a soccer coach for all my daughters soccer teams, I have made so many
friends in Riverside, and I want to protect them all and my family. I also want to protect our entire community. That is
1
