From: Janice Lance
To: 2Mavor
Subject: [External] For All Riverside Residents
Date: Saturday, July 17, 2021 10:55:58 AM
Honorable Patricia Lock Dawson,
I was disappointed to see that you applauded or maybe even had a hand in denying Republican
Members of Congress to speak in our City. You are the Spokesperson for all of Riverside, not just some
of them. Since when does your job description include choosing what we see and hear? What
happened to the City of Riverside Resident's Right to Freedom of Speech? How DARE you cancel
speech.
You are mistaken to believe that what this event was about white nationalist rhetoric. You should have
taken the time to call on the office of the event or these Congress members to become informed before
you began siding with a few liberal voices. It is not your job or our city council members job to judge
event speakers based on the opinion of those who dislike them or content of old comments possibly
made. If that is what you have decided to do, then our city can no longer host ANY political speech. It is
All divisive to the other side.
You said in your comments quoted in the Press Enterprise that Riverside is a diverse and inclusive
community and yet you are showing how very EXCLUSIVE and Restrictive you have made us.
Look it up. Inclusive leadership means having the ability to lead a diverse group of people while
demonstrating respect for each person's unique characteristics without bias. Being FAIR is obviously not
your strength. You should work on that. I met you before you were elected and I did vote for you. If the
election was tomorrow, your actions have just lost you the majority if not all of the Republican vote.
Sincerely,
Janice Lance
