From: Marlena Demicco
To: 2Mavor
Subject: [External] Cancellation of the America First Rally at the convention center
Date: Saturday, July 17, 2021 11:13:34 AM
Dear Patricia Lock Dawson,
As Mayor of Riverside I would expect you to uphold the rights of the citizens of Riverside. Our right to freedom of
speech are being trampled. If someone disagrees with someone else's agenda they are "canceled". As Americans
we have a precious right being taken away because people do not want to be offended or allow anyone also with an
opposing view to speak. This is anti-American! Everyone regardless of what they are saying has a right to say it! If
you disagree just don't listen or have a reasonable conversation to support your own point of view. Conversation
among those with opposing viewpoints is the only way forward to build bridges and understand one another. We do
not all have to agree, we are not all the same. But we have to allow everyone to have the right to their own
opinions. No one has a right to shut someone else down no matter how wrong we think they are. You, publicly
commending the Raincross Hospitality Corporation for canceling a rally by America First because the issues are
divisive in our community is wrong and a violation of our right to free speech. I am sorry to have someone in the
Mayor's office who is either unwilling or unable to stand up for the rights of all people regardless of what side of the
aisle they are on. I am not a supporter of this rally but I am a supporter of free speech. I would hope Riverside
would not cave to the "Woke" mob and stand for liberty. I appreciate you taking the time to read my concern.
Sincerely,
Marlena DeMicco
Very concerned Resident of Riverside
Sent from my iPhone
