From: Debbie Kniaht-Marshall
To: 2Mavor
Subject: [External] No to the America First Rally at Riverside Convention Center
Date: Friday, July 16, 2021 11:35:43 AM
Dear Mayor Lock Dawson,
I am a life-long Riverside resident, parent and teacher with the Riverside Unified
School District. I love my city, but I am very upset that the city government is
allowing the America First Rally at the Riverside Convention Center. Why is our city
allowing two members of congress, neither of whom are from our area, let alone our
state, to spew lies about the election, anti -vaccination misinformation and hate on
the poor and people of color? Are you ready to do national news interviews about
supporting the racism and white -nationalist propaganda that Taylor Greene and
Gaetz spread? Frankly, I don't want another time where Riverside has its name
spread through the mud, being known as a racist city. Have you forgotten the
national news coverage about naming Martin Luther King High School in the 1990s?
Not to mention the 2020 King High School party where a Trump flag, confederate
flag and swastika hung on the wall which also made the national news. I love
Riverside and am proud to live here. I am not proud of this. Riverside should have
taken the same stance that Laguna Niguel did and told them to stay away. I am very
disappointed. Do better Riverside.
Sincerely,
Deborah Knight -Marshall
