From: Jocko Jeff To: 2Mavor Subject: [External] Gaetz/Taylor Green "America First" Rally Date: Friday, July 16, 2021 1:16:07 PM Dear Madam Mayor, I want to register my complaint that the City of Riverside is hosting the hate mongers and "The Big Lie" spreaders Gaetz and Taylor Green at the Riverside Convention Center tomorrow night. For this venue to be used to help spread hate, division, and "The Big Lie" is unconscionable and needs to canceled immediately! The reputation of The City of Riverside will forever be stained as these two individuals continue to work towards the demise of democracy in the United States. The City of Riverside will have contributed to the spreading of their hate, division, and "The Big Lie." I have lived in Riverside for 37 years raising my two daughters here and have always been proud to say "I live in Riverside." If this rally takes place I will no longer be able to say this. City spokesperson Phil Pitchford is right in his statement that "The City of Riverside is an inclusive community and has affirmed its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through the City Council's actions and policies" but I know of no city council actions or policies that evokes or create hate or division and supports a "Big Lie," Phil Pitchford is wrong if he thinks The City of Riverside or our elected representatives (including you I hope) support the avocation of hate, division, and "The Big Lie." I also do not like the fact that our city law enforcement assets will be used for this event. Our city needs its police patrolling and protecting the citizens of the city not protecting hate mongers and The Big Lie" spreaders. I am respectfully asking that you intervene in this matter and stop this rally from happening tomorrow night, Our beloved city does not need to gain this type of reputation.
