From: Indivisible 41 California To: 2Mavor Subject: [External] Candlelight Vigil, July 17 at 7:00 PM Date: Friday, July 16, 2021 1:12:36 PM Dear Mayor Lock -Dawson, Indivisible 41 would like to invite you to attend a peaceful candlelight vigil at city hall tomorrow at 7:00 PM. The theme is saving our democracy. We now understand that the city council has little ability to address the use of our convention center to host a rally that includes provocateurs who supported the insurrection on January 6th. We are offering this alternative to honor John Lewis and make a statement that America is for everyone and our democracy must be protected. We feel this event is very much in line with the stated values of the City of Riverside and would be honored if you could join us. Riverside is facing an atrocity on July 17 with our own Convention Center hosting the America First rally (featuring Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor -Green). Join us to gather and honor John Lewis, support our democracy, and counter the horrible event happening at the Convention Center. If you're angry about Gaetz and Taylor -Green visiting our city to promote their hate, this is the perfect opportunity to take a stand for honesty, compassion, and above all, democracy. Indivisible 41 is not involved in the demonstration planned at the venue, as we believe this is the safest and most effective way to make our voices known. This will be a very informal and low-key event. Please join us and take a stand with John Lewis and all lovers of democracy. Our democracy is in jeopardy and we must do everything in our power to keep it safe.
