1 ORDINANCE NO. 5998 <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br /> AMENDING TITLE 9 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> 3 BY ADDING THERETO A NEW CHAPTER 9.06 RELATING TO <br /> CURFEWS FOR MINORS AND REPEALING SECTIONS 9.04.020 <br /> 4 and 9.04.030. <br /> 5 <br /> The City Council of the City of Riverside, California, <br /> 6 <br /> does ordain as follows: <br /> ? <br /> Section 1: Title 9 of the Riverside Municipal Code is <br /> 8 <br /> hereby amended by adding thereto a new Chapter 9.06 relating to <br /> 9 <br /> curfews for minors, which new chapter shall read as follows: <br /> 10 "Chapter 9.06 <br /> 11 Curfews <br /> 12 Sections: <br /> 9.06.010 Findings. <br /> 13 9.06.015 Definitions. <br /> 9.06.028 Curfew Established. <br /> 14 9.06.030 Curfew Exceptions. <br /> 9.06.040 Permitting Violation by Adult. <br /> 15 9.06.050 Penalty for Minors. <br /> 9.06.060 Severability. <br /> 16 <br /> 9.06.010 FINDINGS. The City Council finds and <br /> 17 <br /> 18 determines that the following legitimate and compelling <br /> 19 governmental interests justify establishment of a curfew for <br /> minors: (a) protection of children from each other and from <br /> 20 <br /> other persons on the street during late night and early morning <br /> 21 <br /> hours; (b) protection of the public from nocturnal gang-related <br /> crime; (c) reduction of widespread juvenile criminal activity; <br /> 24 (d) encouragement of parental control of and responsibility for <br /> <br /> their children.
