RPU-7636 FOR THE CANYON CREST CABLE REPLACEMENT AREA <br />PROJECT WITH HOT LINE CONSTRUCTION, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$889,677; WORK ORDER NO. 1619972 IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,300,000 <br />ISSUES: <br />Award of Bid No. RPU-7636 to Hot Line Construction, Inc. for the Canyon Crest Cable <br />Replacement Area 1F, Phase 3 Project in the amount of $889,677; and approve the capital <br />expenditure for Work Order No. 1619972 in the amount of $1,300,000. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1. Award Bid No. RPU-7636 to Hot Line Construction, Inc., of Brentwood, California, in the <br />amount of $889,677 for the Canyon Crest Cable Replacement Area 1F, Phase 3 Project; <br /> <br />2. Approve the capital expenditure for Work Order No. 1619972 in the amount of $1,300,000 <br />which includes all design, construction, construction support, contract administration, <br />inspection, and construction change order authority costs for the Canyon Crest Cable <br />Replacement Area 1F, Phase 3 Project; and <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute any documents necessary to <br />effectuate the project described herein, as well as the ability to make minor non-substantive <br />changes in alignment with all purchasing policies. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) has experienced power outages and reliability issues in the <br />Canyon Crest area for the past 20 years, due to the high failure rate of aged cable. The area is <br />served by HMPE insulated cable (high molecular weight polyethylene) and CIC type infrastructure <br />(cable-in-conduit). electric system outages due to <br />failures. The Electric System Master Plan (ESMP) recommends the planned replacement of <br />obsolete HMPE and CIC type infrastructure to improve system capacity and reliability. Canyon <br />Crest neighborhoods are designated high priority for infrastructure upgrades and replacement <br />based upon recent comprehensive engineering studies to improvement system reliability. <br /> <br />
