1 ORDINANCE NO. 5979 <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 2.16 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL <br /> 3 CODE IN ITS ENTIRETY IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE NAME <br /> OF THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION TO THE <br /> 4 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION. <br /> 5 The City Council of the City of Riverside does ordain as <br /> 6 follows: <br /> <br /> ? Section 1: Chapter 2.16 of the Riverside Municipal Code <br /> <br /> 8 is hereby amended in its entirety, which chapter shall read as <br /> 9 follows: <br /> 10 "Chapter 2.16 <br /> 11 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION <br /> 12 Sections: <br /> 2.16.010 Created. <br /> 13 2.16.020 Number of members--Qualifications. <br /> 2.16.030 Powers, duties and functions. <br /> 14 <br /> 2.16.010 CREATED. Pursuant to Section 700-705 of the <br /> City Charter, there is created a Human Relations <br /> 15 <br /> Commission consisting of at least fifteen members <br /> 16 selected by the City Council. No action or proceeding <br /> before the Human Relations Commission, formerly known as <br /> 17 the Community Relations Commission, and no term of <br /> office of any commissioner shall be affected by this <br /> 18 name change. <br /> 2.16.020 NUMBER OF MEMBERS--QUALIFICATIONS. The <br /> 19 Commission shall consist of at least fifteen members <br /> appointed in accordance with the City Charter. So far <br /> 20 as is reasonably possible, the Commission members shall <br /> include representation from the following fields: <br /> 21 education, medicine, health and welfare, law, real <br /> estate, industry, business, finance, law enforcement and <br /> 22 labor. The remaining members may be appointed from <br /> other fields of endeavor. Not less than seven (7) <br /> 23 members shall be from the African-American/Black, Latino <br /> and Asian groups, with representatives from each group. <br /> 24 2.16.030 POWERS, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS. The powers, <br /> duties and functions of the Human Relations Commission <br /> 25 shall include, but not be limited to the following: <br /> 26 (1) TO advise the City Council on all problems of <br /> local intergroup relations; <br /> 27 (2) To study the problems of prejudice and <br /> <br />ATTORNEY <br /> DE <br /> A <br /> <br /> <br />
