1 ORDINANCE NO. 5979 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2.16 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL 3 CODE IN ITS ENTIRETY IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION TO THE 4 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION. 5 The City Council of the City of Riverside does ordain as 6 follows: ? Section 1: Chapter 2.16 of the Riverside Municipal Code 8 is hereby amended in its entirety, which chapter shall read as 9 follows: 10 "Chapter 2.16 11 HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION 12 Sections: 2.16.010 Created. 13 2.16.020 Number of members--Qualifications. 2.16.030 Powers, duties and functions. 14 2.16.010 CREATED. Pursuant to Section 700-705 of the City Charter, there is created a Human Relations 15 Commission consisting of at least fifteen members 16 selected by the City Council. No action or proceeding before the Human Relations Commission, formerly known as 17 the Community Relations Commission, and no term of office of any commissioner shall be affected by this 18 name change. 2.16.020 NUMBER OF MEMBERS--QUALIFICATIONS. The 19 Commission shall consist of at least fifteen members appointed in accordance with the City Charter. So far 20 as is reasonably possible, the Commission members shall include representation from the following fields: 21 education, medicine, health and welfare, law, real estate, industry, business, finance, law enforcement and 22 labor. The remaining members may be appointed from other fields of endeavor. Not less than seven (7) 23 members shall be from the African-American/Black, Latino and Asian groups, with representatives from each group. 24 2.16.030 POWERS, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS.
