CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR
CITY COUNCIL MEMBER,
CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 6
JIM PERRY AGE: 63
OCCUPATION: Councilman / Retired Policeman
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
My promise today is the same as when I first ran for City Council, to be
proactive, accessible and available to make a difference in Riverside.
With over 40 years of public service experience, serving our community
is my life's passion. I spend the majority of my time in our neighborhoods
—walking the streets, knocking on doors and making sure people get the
help they need.
On the City Council, we've continued to make streets safer, from reducing
graffiti to resurfacing streets. I've worked to create new jobs and expand
a variety of retail and restaurants, including facilitating the opening of
Northgate-Gonzalez Market on Magnolia/Tyler.
In the wake of the COVID pandemic, I've supported the use of CARES
Act funding to assist small businesses and food programs for our seniors
and families. I opposed utility shut offs and supported utility assistance
programs. As part of my focus on students, I initiated and participated
in many educational programs with the Alvord Unified School District.
My wife and I have lived in Riverside for over 30 years. We raised our
family here. I want to continue serving you with safer, stronger and better
neighborhoods.
Website: CouncilmanPerry.com.
Jim Perry
Councilman/Retired Policeman
33-3876-03
