WATER i E E R G Y L[ EE
11-nm 69& RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES
P U B LIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum
BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: MARCH 8, 2021
SUBJECT: UPDATE ON THE MISSION INN BOOSTER STATION AND PRESSURE
REZONING PROJECT
ISSUE:
Receive an update on the Mission Inn Booster Station and Pressure Rezoning Project.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board of Public Utilities receive an update on the Mission Inn Booster Station and
Pressure Rezoning Project.
BACKGROUND:
The Mission Inn Booster Station and Pressure Rezoning Project addresses issues of low water
pressure, insufficient fire flow, booster station operational deficiencies and aged and undersized
water mains within portions of the surrounding Mount Rubidoux and Indian Hill neighborhoods.
The Project includes replacement of the existing Rubidoux and Mary Evans Booster Stations with
the new Mission Inn Booster Station and consolidating the Rubidoux 1066, Mary Evans 1150, and
portions of the Gravity 997 hydraulic pressure zones into one pressure zone. The project also
includes the installation of approximately 5,120 linear feet of pipeline to facilitate the consolidation
of the pressure zones.
The work of this project was completed under two separate construction contracts, one for the
booster station and one for the pipeline, each awarded by the Riverside Board of Public Utilities
(Board) on September 23, 2019, for a total project cost of $5,745,000.
DISCUSSION:
Construction of the pipeline was completed in August 2020, and the booster station was placed
in operation in October 2020, with some incidental work continuing through February 2021. Staff
will provide the attached presentation to update the Board on this vital RPU project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact related to this update.
