In lieu of paying the filing <br />fee with money, a candidate may submit a petition containing signatures of <br />registered voters within the City and Ward (if applicable) in which he or she <br />seeks office. Three signatures are required for each dollar of filing fee. <br /> <br />Within 10 days after receipt of a petition, the City Clerk shall notify the candidate <br />of any deficiency. The Notice is to be published in a newspaper of general <br />circulation published in the City. Federal law requires publication to be made in <br />English and Spanish. <br />
