The project area consists of existing 6-inch cast iron water
mains that were installed in the 1950’s. Based on their leak history, age and size, these water
pipelines have been identified as high priority pipelines for replacement to enhance the reliability
of the water system.

This project is in line with RPU’s infrastructure road map and Utility 2.0 and the commitment to
infrastructure reliability in the Riverside 2025 strategic plan and directly benefits RPU water
customers within the vicinity of the project in terms of system reliability and fire flow.

DISCUSSION:

The work generally entails the construction of approximately 2,900 linear feet of 8-inch polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) pipe, 53 water services, nine (9) fire hydrants and eight (8) system connections,
along with all necessary fittings, appurtenances and related incidental work. The new water
facilities will be installed according to RPU’s current standards.
