RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> <br />Board Memorandum <br /> <br />▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ <br /> <br />BO ARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: DECEMBER 22, 2020 <br /> <br /> ITEM NO: 5 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: FIRST AMENDMENT TO SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR BOOSTER STATION <br />PUMP AND MOTOR REPAIRS WITH LEGEND PUMP & WELL SERVICE, INC., <br />FOR A TWO-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE AGREEMENT, THROUGH APRIL 25, <br />2023, FOR AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $330,000 <br /> <br /> <br />ISSUE: <br /> <br />Consider approval of the First Amendment to Services Agreement for Booster Station Pump <br />and Motor Repairs with Legend Pump & Well Service, Inc., of Riverside, California, for a two- <br />year extension of the agreement, through April 25, 2023, for an amount not-to-exceed $330,000 <br />for booster station pump and motor repairs. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br /> <br />1. Approve First Amendment to Services Agreement for Booster Station Pump and Motor <br />Repairs with Legend Pump & Well Service, Inc., of Riverside, California, for a two-year <br />extension of the agreement, through April 25, 2023, for an amount not-to-exceed $330,000 <br />for booster station pump and motor repairs; and <br /> <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the two-year extension with Legend <br />Pump & Well Service, Inc., including making minor and non -substantive changes and to <br />sign all documents and instruments necessary to complete the transactions. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) owns and operates approximately 44 booster stations and 66 <br />irrigation and domestic wells. These facilities are equipped with a pproximately 216 pumps and <br />motors, chemical pumps, valves, tanks, electrical panel controls, etc. Mechanical and electrical <br />equipment runs 24/7/365 and requires frequent maintenance, rehabilitation and/or repairs. <br />Booster stations are the most essential facilities in maintaining the n ecessary pressure in the <br />distribution system. In order to ensure adequate water supply and prevent service interruptions <br />to RPU customers, staff needs to address defective pumps and motors in a timely manner; <br />therefore, RPU needs to hire a contractor with the expertise and specialized equipment needed <br />to repair the pumps and motors on an ongoing basis. <br /> <br />
