W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F E <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />• ' 191& Board Memorandum <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />DATE: DECEMBER 14, 2020 <br />ITEM NO: 3 <br />SUBJECT: SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT FOR UTILITY LINE <br />CLEARANCE AND VEGETATION MANAGEMENT SERVICE FOR CITYWIDE <br />AREA WITH WEST COAST ARBORISTS, INC., TO EXTEND TERM ONE <br />ADDITIONAL YEAR, ENDING OCTOBER 31, 2021, FOR AN ANNUAL AMOUNT <br />NOT TO EXCEED $3,500,000 <br />ISSUE: <br />Consider the approval of the Second Amendment to the Agreement for Utility Line Clearance and <br />Vegetation Management Service for Citywide Area with West Coast Arborists, Inc., of Anaheim, <br />California, to extend term for one additional year, ending October 31, 2021, for the annual amount <br />not to exceed $3,500,000, which is an increase of $800,000 from the previously approved annual <br />amount of $2,700,000, with the total cost of the Agreement and the Amendment remaining within <br />the previously approved total contract amount of $13,200,000 due to savings achieved in previous <br />years. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />Approve the Second Amendment to the Agreement for Utility Line Clearance and <br />Vegetation Management Service for Citywide Area with West Coast Arborists, Inc., for a <br />one-year term extension, ending October 31, 2021, for the annual amount not to exceed <br />$3,500,000; and <br />2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the Second Amendment to the <br />Agreement for Utility Line Clearance and Vegetation Management Service for Citywide <br />Area with West Coast Arborists, Inc., including making minor and non -substantive <br />changes. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Utility line clearance tree trimming, and vegetation management is a vital function of Riverside <br />Public Utilities (RPU) to maintain safe clearance between energized overhead electric lines <br />and trees in accordance with state law, as generally set forth in California Public Utilities <br />Commission's General Order 95 Rule 35. Proper tree and vegetation clearance help maintain <br />public safety and reliability of electric service. <br />
