TO PICK UP, TRANSPORT AND DISPOSE OF PCB <br />CONTAMINATED CONCRETE AND SOILS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in August, 2003 the City of Riverside ("City") learned of the presence of <br />polychlorinated biphenyls ("PCBs") and other metals, lead, and volatile organic compounds in <br />sludge at the AG Park; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City immediately commenced sampling of soils at the AG Park in <br />accordance with EPA methodologies to determine the extent, if any, of PCBs contamination at the <br />AG Park; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recent nearly completed sampling results reveal varying levels of PCBs <br />throughout different areas of the AG Park; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City desires to remove, transport and dispose of the contaminated soils, <br />concrete and debris at the AG Park in accordance with EPA requirements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for many years City has retained Haz Mat Trans, Inc. to pick up, transport <br />and dispose of various hazardous materials, including PCBs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Haz Mat Trans, Inc. has performed satisfactorily under previous agreements <br />and for reasonable prices; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to expedite the removal of the PCBs contaminated soils, concrete <br />and debris from the AG Park, City solicited a bid from Haz Mat Trans, Inc. to profile, manifest, <br />package, transport and dispose of PCBs contaminated soils, concrete and debris from the AG Park; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Haz Mat Trans, Inc.'s bid was reasonable in price and Haz Mat Trans, Inc. <br />is willing to perform such services for City commencing work upon approval by the City Council. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />California, as follows: <br /> <br />~0Attorney's Office <br /> Main Street <br />Riverside, CA 92522 <br />(909) 826-5567 <br /> <br /> <br />
