Thank you very much.

Subject: city of Riverside, and City of Riverside Community Police Review Commission.

Dear and esteemed gentlemen and ladies,

I felt it within my heart to communicate with you regarding your good work for residents within our fine
city. My family and I are very new to the city of Riverside and we've already greatly enjoyed its diverse
cultural richness and vibrancy. Riverside is very much a city where one can find good people - good
people with great hopes, dreams and aspirations for themselves, their families and for their entire
community.
I would like to say thank you, thank you for providing Riverside residents with a decent honorable
system of protection for their civil rights. The city leadership's no to long ago creation of a community
police review commission speaks volumes of our city government's maturity. The existence of such an
important commission also speaks clearly of City governments respect for the dignity of all human
beings. I am reminded of a profound statement made by former president Jimmy Carter I heard his
statement while I was in the service. In speaking of America's greatness and magnificent blessings he
expressed so clearly "America did not create human rights but human rights did create America". Human
rights and the protection of those rights is of great importance and very essential to the human enrichment
and growth of any people or community. I wholeheartedly salute you for responsibly providing decent
recourses to residents and to any individual who would ever feel a need to communicate their concerns
regarding a discontentment with our police department. Civil oversight over police practices is a vital
benefit. It has proven of made good police departments even better and is a tremendous help in guiding
any police department toward better more amicable and efficient methods of quality public service. In
short it truly benefits everyone.
I also would like to thank all the fine members of the City of Riverside Police Review Commission
and thank them for their tremendous dedication, patience and sacrifice of time. Their work is not light or
easy I'm sure. In closing let me suggest the City in the future may want to vote on allowing some sort of
indirect monetary compensation to each volunteer police review commission member. By this I mean it
would be a good idea for the City to allow commission members to each choose a local charity for an
annual or biannual gift paid by the City in their name. This I believe would be a very fair and noble idea.

Once again I thank all of you for your good work towards a great community for all of us.

Very sincerely.
