AM-003-901 1 ORDINANCE NO. 6109 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 19.70.130 AND REPEALING SECTION 3 19.70.140 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE TO MODIFY THE MAXIMUM HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS FOR FENCES, 4 WALLS AND HEDGES. 5 The City Council of the City of Riverside, California, 6 does ordain as follows: 7 Section 1: Section 19.70.130 of the Riverside Municipal 8 Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 9 "19.70.130 FENCES, WALLS AND HEDGES. Fences, walls (except building walls) and hedges shall be 10 allowed in conformance with the following provisions: 11 (1) A fence or wall along a side or rear 12 property line may be up to six feet in height, provided it does not extend into a front yard; 13 (2) In the RR, RA, RA-2 and RA-5 Zones, any 14 fence or wall in any front yard may be up to six feet in height, provided that the portion of the 15 fence or wall above a height of three feet shall be no more than one part solid to three parts 16 open; 17 (3) In all other zones, front yard fences or walls shall not exceed four feet in height, 18 provided that the portion of the fence or wall above a height of three feet shall be no more than 19 one part solid to three parts open; 20 (4) Fences or walls around public utility buildings or structures may exceed the provisions 21 of this section as needed for security or public safety; 22 (5) The height of hedges or other plantings is 23 not specifically regulated by this section, except that in no case shall a fence, wall, hedge or 24 other plant material pose a safety hazard to pedestrians or vehicle operators due to a sight 25 obstruction; 26 (6) The height of fences or walls in front yard areas shall be measured inclusive of 27 Attorney's Office Street CA 92522 782-5567 F:/WPDATA~ ORVk 90261801.
