CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE <br />City of Riverside <br /> September 25, 2003, 5 p.m. <br /> Mayor's Ceremonial Room <br /> City Hall, 3900 Main Street <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Vice Chair Ben Johnson and Members Dale McNair, Dorothy Bailey, <br />Rusty Bailey, William Turpin, Ray Higgins, Connie Leach, Mike Teer, <br />Barry Johnson, Art Gamia, Marjode von Pohle, Marcia McQuem, and Stan <br />Stosel <br /> <br />Chair Eric Haley (excused), Rose Mayes, Gar Brewton (excused), and <br />Damon Castillo (excused) <br /> <br />Colleen Nicol, Janis Lowry, Gregory Priamos, Tricia Ruiz, and Sharon <br />Cooley <br /> <br />Mayor Ronald Loveridge, Councilmember Laura Pearson, and Muriel and <br />Abe Schwartz <br /> <br />Vice Chair Ben Johnson convened the Charter Review Committee at 5 p.m. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />There were no comments presented at this time. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Member Garcia and seconded by Member Rusty <br />Bailey approving the minutes of September 11, 2003, correcting the final sentence under <br />Interview with Mayor Pro Tempore Schiavone to read, "He does not support an increase in the <br />number of Wards and favors evening City Council meetings." Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VOTE ON PERMANENT CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Member Teer and seconded by Member Garcia <br />reconfirming the appointment of Eric Haley as Chair and Ben Johnson as Vice-Chair of the <br />Committee. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />LEGAL ANALYSIS PREPARED BY CITY ATTORNEY <br />Following discussion, and without formal motion, the Committee unanimously received and <br />ordered filed the City Attorney's report and approved the format for responding to future <br />committee questions requiring legal analysis. <br /> <br />CRC-11 <br /> <br /> <br />
