W A T E R E N E R G Y L I F E <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />• ' Board Memorandum <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />DATE: APRIL 27, 2020 <br />ITEM NO: 3 <br />SUBJECT: STREETLIGHT INSTALLATION COMPONENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BID NO. 7717 <br />FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018/2019 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />STREET AND STORM DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE 2 PROJECT WITH WEKA, <br />INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,715; AND WORK ORDER NO. 1924329 FOR A TOTAL <br />EXPENDITURE OF $97,000 <br />ISSUES: <br />Approve the expenditure in the total amount of $68,715 with Weka, Inc., of Highland, California, for the <br />Streetlight Installation component of Public Works Bid No. 7717 for Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Community <br />Development Block Grant Street and Storm Drain Improvements, Phase 2 Project; and approve Work <br />Order No. 1924329 for a total capital expenditure of $97,000. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1. Approve the expenditure in the total amount of $68,715 with Weka, Inc., of Highland, California, for <br />the Streetlight Installation component of Public Works Bid No. 7717 for Fiscal Year 2018/2019 <br />Community Development Block Grant Street and Storm Drain Improvements, Phase 2 Project; and <br />2. Approve Work Order No. 1924329 for a total Capital expenditure of $97,000 for the Streetlight <br />installation component of Public Works Bid No. 7717 for Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Community <br />Development Block Grant Street and Storm Drain Improvements, Phase 2 Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), as a part of the United States Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development (HUD), provides annual funding to local entitlement communities for a wide range <br />of programs, such as infrastructure, affordable housing and economic development. <br />On June 5, 2018, City Council approved the recommendations from the Community and Economic <br />Development Department for CDBG funding for the Program Year 2018/2019. <br />The City of Riverside Public Works Department will soon be starting construction work for the CDBG Street <br />and Storm Drain Improvements, Phase 2 Project. The project will promote active transportation such as <br />walking, biking, and any alternate way of commute besides automobile, benefiting the area residents and <br />students of Fremont Elementary School. <br />
