(Corrected) <br /> <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. 6198 <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br /> AMENDING IN ITS ENTIRETY SECTION 9.08.015 OF THE <br /> 3 RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO DOGS IN PUBLIC <br /> PARKS IN ORDER TO PERMIT DOGS IN PUBLIC PARKS <br /> 4 SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS. <br /> 5 WHEREAS Section 9.08.015 of the Riverside Municipal <br /> 6 Code currently prohibits dogs in public parks except for dogs <br /> 7 participating in a dog conformation or obedience show or an <br /> 8 obedience training program authorized by the Park and <br /> 9 Recreation Director or any dog used by a law enforcement <br /> 10 agency; and <br /> 11 WHEREAS the Park and Recreation Commission of the City <br /> 12 of Riverside has recommended to the City Council that <br /> 13 Section 9.08.015 be amended to allow dogs in parks if on leash <br /> 14 of not more than six feet in length and under the immediate <br /> 15 care and control of the owner or custodian, provided that the <br /> 16 owner or custodian shall be responsible for the cleanup of any <br /> 17 feces for said dog while in the park; <br /> 18 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of <br /> 19 Riverside, California, does ordain as follows: <br /> 20 Section 1: Section 9.08.015 of the Riverside Municipal <br /> 21 Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: <br /> 22 "9.08.015 DOGS PERMITTED; CONDITIONS. No person <br /> owning or having charge, care, custody or control of <br /> 23 any dog shall permit or allow the same to be in a <br /> public park unless such dog is restrained by a leash <br /> 24 not more than six feet in length and under the control <br /> of a competent person able to restrain such dog; <br /> 25 provided, however, the requirement for a leash shall <br /> not apply to any dog used by a law enforcement agency <br /> 26 or to a dog while participating in a dog obedience <br /> training program or a dog obedience or conformation <br /> 27 show authorized by the Park and Recreation Director, <br /> <br />Attorney's Office <br />Street <br />CA 92522 <br />782-5567 F: \WPDATA\ORD\94229801.
