Humphrey, Sr., Sheri L. Corral, Brian C. <br />Pearcy, and Bonavita B. Quinto, the City Council by paper ballot appointed <br />(1) Brian C. Pearcy to a four-year term expiring March 1, 2007; and (2) Shed <br />L. Corral and Bonavita B. Quinto as First and Second Alternates <br />respectively, for one-year terms expiring March 1, 2004, to the Community <br />Police Review Commission. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The City Council recessed at 11:55 a.m. and reconvened at I p.m. in the Art <br />Pick Council Chamber with the Mayor and all Councilmembers present <br />except Councilmember Defenbaugh. <br /> <br />Councilmember Defenbaugh entered during the following item. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Leonard Robinson, Susan Nash, Carmen Vargas Thompson, Mary Shelton <br />Phil Courtney, Eric Isaac, James Martin, and others spoke regarding the <br />recent court decision regarding former Riverside Police Officer Wayne <br />Stewart's involvement in the Tyisha Miller incident. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSIONS - CONTINUED IN PART <br /> <br />The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for <br />closed sessions pursuant to Government Code (1) {}54957 for performance <br />evaluation of the City Manager; and (2) §54956.9 to confer with and/or <br />receive advice from legal counsel concerning (a) Wayne Stewart v. City of <br />Riverside, et al - USDC Case No. ED CV 00-0570; (b) Wayne Stewart v. City <br />of Riverside (Petition for Walt of Mandate) - Riverside Superior Court Case <br />No. RIC 372 846; (c) City of Riverside v. Stewart (Petition for Writ of <br />Mandate) - Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 373 156; and (d) Wayne <br />Stewart v. City of Riverside (Industrial Disability Retirement Appeal) OAH File <br />No. L-2002050244. Following the closed sessions, City Attorney Priamos <br />announced that the City Council has authorized and directed the City's <br />attorneys to file a notice of appeal regarding Wayne Stewart v. City of <br />Riverside (Petition for Writ of Mandate) - Riverside Superior Court Case <br />No. RIC 372 846 and City of Riverside v. Stewart (Petition for Writ of <br />Mandate) - Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 373 156.
