RPU-7495 FOR THE REHABILITATION OF FOUR ELECTRICAL <br />VAULTS AND MANHOLESTHROUGHOUT THE CITY TO HENKELS & McCOY OF <br />POMONA, CALIFORNIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $465,539–APPROVE WORK ORDER <br />NO. 1804337 FOR $557,000 <br />ISSUES: <br />Award Bid No. RPU-7495 to Henkels & McCoy of Pomona, California, for the Rehabilitation of Four <br />Electrical Vaults and Manholes throughout the City, in the amount of $465,539; and approve the capital <br />expenditure of $557,000 for Work Order No. 1804337. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1.Award Bid No. RPU-7495 for the Replacement of Four Electrical Vaults and Manholes throughout <br />the City, to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder Henkels & McCoy, Pomona, California, <br />in the amount of $465,539;and <br />2.Approve Work Order No. 1804337 in the amount of $557,000. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 10, 2017, the Board of Public Utilities received the Planned Routine Electric and Water Capital <br />Projects Over $500,000 in Fiscal Year 2017/18report. The report provides an overview of the routine <br />infrastructure projects and highlights the importance of these capital improvement projects. Discussion <br />of these projects provided context and familiarity to streamline Board approval of individual project <br />actions throughout the fiscal year. <br />One of the projects discussed was the planned repair/replacement of six (6)underground vaults in <br />various locations based upon detailed inspectionsper California General Order 165 (G.O. 165).Detailed <br />inspections identifyunderground vaults which are at risk of failure and have the potential of becoming a <br />public safety hazard and adversely affect the electric system’s reliability. <br />There are no planned outages as part of this project. Should unforeseen circumstances require an <br />outage, notifications will be issued prior to commencing any work, and electric service disruptions will be <br />coordinated with customers to minimize any impact. <br />Page 12 <br />
